JOHN DEERE 4410
I have JOHN DEERE 2004 4410. The spool valve now as a crack on the top leaking hdy fluid all over rear of the tractor. I did read on here about another person that had about the same problem with a 4310 same year 2004. The crack happen when back blading snow a week ago. The spool valve it cost about $991.00. Has any one had to replace one?

Can you show a picture of the valve?

How many spools on the valve?

Just match the pump flow GPM's with a valve with as many spools as you need..

Hydraulics:
Type: open center
Capacity: 6.3 gal [23.8 L] (gear)
6.8 gal [25.7 L] (hydro)
Pressure: 2500 psi [172.4 bar]
Valves: 5
Pump flow: 8.6 gpm [32.6 lpm]
Total flow: 13.9 gpm [52.6 lpm]
Steering flow: 5.3 gpm [20.1 lpm]

Since that valve is built onto the tranny case, its a JD only part. Might try some tractor salvage yards, but that's a longshot.

Do you have a cylinder on your back blade connected to the SCV? If so then hitting something with it could have caused a huge pressure spike, might want to think about a crossover relief valve for the future.

No cylinder on your back blade. I got this tractor new in 2004 and used it for 11 years Doing the same things. I just happen to run across another member that had the same year 2004 only it was a 4310 that blew part of the top off the spool valve so just maybe it was a bad year.

As you know, when the spools are in neutral, there is no relief, and if the blade hits a solid object, the mechanical aspect of the blade can generate a large spike in the cyl, and there is nowhere for the fluid to go. You could possibly build up a 5000 to 8000 psi spike. It could have damaged the cyl, hose, or valve.

Your valve is probably rated for about 3000 psi, so something had to give.

A crossover relief is recommend as expressed above.

Since you don't have a cylinder on your blade that's connected to your SCV, I'm not sure why it would crack if the blade struck something, the pressure spike should be seen in the rockshaft valve, not the SCV.
