john deere 210 garden tractor
Hi, garden tractor 210 (1980s)mower deck is a 46" model munber is 47
I left the shop manual at my house upstate (3 hours away), I brought home the deck to replace bearings in spindles.
I am having a hard time removing them.
Do I have to remove pulleys in order for spindle housing to be removed?
I tried heating up the 1 1/4 " nuts holding the pulleys on and they are not budging, are they a reverse thread?
thanks in advance for any help

Yes, No...

Yes the pulleys have to come off, because the spindle shaft has to be driven down through the housing. the bottom bearing can be just driven out. The top bearing is held in place with a snap ring over the top of it which must be removed, then the top bearing is driven out the top. When you put the assembly back together, it's bottom bearing, spindle shaft from the bottom, pack assembly with grease, top bearing, snap ring and finally pulley.

The pulley in right handed (normal). I had to use an electric impact wrench and emply strap pliers on the pulleys. And there a key in the pulley shaft, so don't lose it..

that's about it.

Thanks Wichita Sam,
I will try and heat the nuts up again, been soaking for over day so hopefully they will come off.
I appreciate your help
