Hello.

I am trying to figure out what happened to my little John Deere 2720.

I had the charge pump recently replaced, however, the steering is very spongy and difficult to turn. Oddly enough, when I engage the PTO, the steering seems to improve. I also notice the hydrostatic drive seems very noisy and reduced response.

Seems to be air in the line which surges out when I crack a line in the system.

Suspecting a relief or bypass valve? Any idea where this is located on this tractor?

Thanks.

Sounds to me like you need to be discussing this with whoever replaced the charge pump. That would be my starting point.

Have you confirmed the fluid level and/or type used after the pump work? That would be my first look.

Hi Satohbull. Yeppers, I sure have. Using John Deere's liquid gold (or the price of it seems to be) Hy Guard. Levels are good, filters are new and sump screen has been inspected.
