John Deere 22720 and 2520 high pressure hydraulic line ruptures.
I have the misfortune of having my 2720 high pressure line blow out now for the second time. I am looking to any and all 2720 and 2520 owners to sound off on this issue if this has ever happened to your machine. When this happened the first time , my dealer replaced the line and said JD was aware of this issue with these tractors. Now , with 300+ hours the line has ruptured again in the same weld seam as before and they are denying there is a problem. I have read here, and on other forums, where these 2720's and 2520's have been having these lines fail, since back in 2007. I am also dealing with John Deere directly and getting a run around on this issue. Hopefully. enough people will see this and sound off on it here, so I can send this off to them as proof. I have video taped the leak, and sent it off to JD who claims they have no way to view the video. I say hog wash!! this is 2013 , find a way!! all help in needed here, as I ill never give up on this issue. someone has to stand up.

All stinks when equipment breaks. I have your twin to the 2720. I have roughly 70 hrs on it with no issues to date. How many hours did you have on it when it broke the first time? I better knock on some wood so replying to this post doesn't come back to bite me. I hope JD helps you out. Keep us posted.

The first split happened with between 15 to 20 hours on it , under the seat at the bend and flair where the banjo fitting is welded on
and connects to the Selective Control Valve. Here we are again with the same issue in basically the same spot as before. Slightly smaller crack in the weld this time. I'll be posting a video on this as soon as I figure out how to do it on this site. Stick around!! I am never going to let this issue rest with JD . IU am taking this to the end!!

Well, I am glad to find this thread. I had looked at the 2702 and was comparing it to the Kubota B3200. I had made up my mind to buy the JD 2720 last night and now having found out anout this issue and JD's poor response, I now believe that I will go ahead with the Kubota trade.

Thank You for the information and I hope they see the light and cover your repairs.

I have had my 2720 for almost 2 years. I have not had any problem with line breaks.

My three year old 2520 (200 hours) just had the same thing happen. Ruptured high pressure line... same spot. Bummer!

Is there a sharp bend right before the fitting that gives out or does that hose "quiver" like a twenty-year-old woman on her first, never mind, does the hose shake when you bottom the rams and go to relief pressure? If so you may want to puzzle out a better way of holding it down, or go to your local hose shop and get a higher end hose made than the stocker hose that has failed in the same spot and the same way.

Wooden, I had the same problem with my 2720 with less than 250 hrs on it! The tube was cracked at the 90 degree bend under the seat, just before the banjo fitting. I coughed up $300 and wasted 4 hours of my time fixing something that should not have ruptured in the first place. My neighbor has a 2520 with exactly the same problem. You've had the exact same problem. Another guy, on another site....you guessed it, had the exact same problem, but when I called JD and they "looked into it" for a couple of days, came back with....you guessed it again, "we have not experienced this problem with other machines and we monitor US and Canada" Well that is nothing but a bunch of BS! This pencil pusher, Forrest from JD says they do stand behind their products, but I know of four people right now with the same exact problem and JD is NOT doing anything but brush us all off! Short story... I had a JD 27 excavator for years (trouble free) Wanted to upgrade to a 35, talked to a guy that works one for a living, he said it was the biggest POS he's ever owned (and he owns many excavators of all sizes) he also said another guy he knows had the same issues he was having with his 35 as well, so what did I do....I BOUGHT A KUBOTA KX121-3 AND I LOVE IT!!!! Maybe when it comes time to replace my 2720 I'll be going back to my KUBOTA dealer. Moral of story....JD lost a $64,000 dollar sale on a new excavator do to their lack of standing behind a $300 part that was engineered WRONG. (I have a JD 440 Dozer from 1958 and ALL the steel lines on that machine are LEAK-FREE after 58 years of hard labor!!!

Somebody else just wrote a letter about four crappy Kubota machines that the factory would not support . Now one of the offended Kubota owners needs an excavator . Now he is going to show Kubota by purchasing a Deere.
