Buying Advice John Deere 3 Family transmission choice

I'm trading in my 1026R and implements for a John Deere 3 Family tractor and implements and am thinking 3039R open station (or possibly 3046R). (I should have read the advice of jeff9366 about buying enough tractor, but I got six years of work and experience out of the 1026R and now I get to pick out a bigger tractor--not too shabby.)

The 3039R offers the choice of standard PowerReverser or optional Hydrostatic. I'm leaning toward the former.

My 1026R and the X384 I just bought both have two-pedal transmission operation. It's fine. On cars, I prefer manual gearboxes and fewer automatic and automated features, though I do like having an automatic on my F-350.

Any opinions on this important subject? I don't think I have tried out a PowerReverser.

Have you visited John Deere dealers yet to drive the tractor? The 3039R was on my original list of tractors to look at - in the process of trying to find a cab model at any dealers around me I noticed that most if not all the 3R series I saw at dealerships were HST models so it may be harder to find a PowerReverser model.

Resale will certainly be better, and the hst seems well suited for these small tractors in a typical setting.
