John Deere 301a power steering pump

I have the open center power steering setup on my 301a, i have replaced bushings and seals TWICE, and it still leaks hydro fluid into crankcase. I ran it for about 15 minutes and it had already dumped about 1 gallon of hydro fluid into crankcase....

What condition is pump shaft?

I used a mike on the shaft and it isnt worn, the pump works great, has great pressure, but its leaking, i checked the return side of steering valve, to make sure there were no blockages, and i have good pressure there as well...

I can only find a single lip seal, but i think i need a double lip seal...

Local JD dealer should be able to get a dual lip seal. FYI your tractor must be a 300 not a 301A because 301A has only closed center power steering with no engine mounted pump

My knowledge of JD ind equipment is limited because I was employed by an "ag only" dealer but there's not much difference. 301A was built in the yrs following the 300. 301A has closed center steering instead of the open center steering similar to the 300.
