Hey guys,

I've got a 320 (old 90's machine, not an X320) I'm working on for a friend of the family. What is supposed to hold the fuel tank down on this machine? It sits flat on the frame on one side and the post on the other side sits in a bracket, but I don't see any brackets or straps to hold it down.

I'm not the first one to work on it, it came to me in pieces and I don't see anything on the parts diagrams that looks like a tank hold down. I got it running and I want to put the rear fender section back on but I have to figure out what holds the tank down first. Thanks!

Here is the parts diagram for the tank. Could #23 be holding it in place?

That's what I thought at first too, but that bracket sits underneath the tank and holds up the back corner of it.

Nothing holds it in place other than the fender pan

#14 might be double sided tape to hold it down..

#14 are pads.. prevent abrasion between metal parts likely.

I had a JD 285, same as the 320, just no hydraulic lift. The tank just sits in place. I had to replace the "fuel sender" (turns on the low fuel light) twice. The fuel attacked the float and made it sink. I think the glue for the two float halves failed and it filled with fuel.

Thanks guys, I can live with that, just seemed a little weird to have it hanging out with no hold downs. It seemed bad when I first looked at it because the tank was bone dry. I guess it would be a lot better with fuel in it.

This machine hasn't run for 6 or 7 years. Changed the fuel lines and threw a battery in it, started right up. Pretty impressive.
