I recently purchased my first sickle bar mower. I have a problem adjusting the chain for the lift bar. The triangle piece that goes to the draw bar has a Cat II pin where my tractor has a Cat I size hole in the drawbar. The JD dealer said to use an I bolt instead of the triangle piece, is what his book said was the conversion. That fine, I can purchase a big I bolt. My question is how to adjust the chain length both from the draw bar to the lift arm and draw bar to the frame base of the mower? How much slack should I leave in each chain? I have ordered an owner痴 manual which should cover this but it is not in yet and I want to use the mower. Any help would be appreciated.
