I am trying to find rock guards for my 350 with snap in ledger plates. Deere keeps sending guards with the riveted style plates. These are two completely different parts. Anyone had a problem like this or a good suggestion. Thanks

Back when I worked for a JD dealer the parts person contacted the JD branch house and found out what the problem is. That may not happen with today's parts people and the different thinking CEO's @ JD.
My dealer got a case number on this and had been working on it for a few weeks. I have since resolved the problem after talking to a guy at sickleservice.com. He has the replcement guards # G-220. They are doubles and are the throw away type ( ledger plates made in ) and swears they work better with less clogging and can also be used with the singles and are about half what I would have paid at Deere. I will let you know how everything works when I get the parts.
I use a 350 that I set up entirely with the forged double guards. It works great, never bend a guard or any other problem. As far as I'm concerned the old type guards are obsolete.
By the way, they may be "throw away" type, but I've never yet had to replace one on any of my sickle bar mowers.
Those jd snap in guards are not worth the money. To thick in the nose and rough to boot. I had to rework the nose with an angle grinder. Always seemed to have one or two that the ledger plate never set right. Finally got another set of old guards at an auction and a guard service anvil. Have two sets and rebuild them on nasty days. With the anvil it's a quick easy job and the guards are much thinner and better shaped. The integral double guards work well with serrated sections but I like smooth sections and replaceable ledgers cause I'm frugal. I do have tiger jaw sections on the outside/inde by the shoes with the corresponding open guard because the eliminate 95% of the plugs. I sharpen/change knifed every 4 hours and resharpen both at the end of the day. A johnsons sickle servicer makes knife maintenance a pleasure.
recently bought jd 350 mower with broken cutter bar, i ordered from john deere dealer new bar @ 185.00 problem now is it doesn't touch or there is too much gap between cutter and teeth. it seems to have mutiple types of teeth not oem i think. does anyone know a source to replace them with all new teeth or a rebuild kit that would include all new teeth. since i have the new cutter bar all i need are the teeth. thanks joe.
