Does anyone know if there is an easy way to increase loader capacity on a 300cx FEL on a 3x20 tractor (i.e. the shim fix for the 790's)? I have seen the easy way to increase the 790, but not sure about the 3520. This is a power reverser model, but I would be interested in knowing the options on both the hydro's and the PR's. Any pictures would be greatly appreciated.

I had a cabbed 3720 and now 4520. Both are HSTs. On both, the hydraulic control valve sits directly on the transmission. It was easy to reach in front of the right rear tire to adjust. Small bolt with locking nut on the front of the hydraulic control block. Loosen the lock nut and turn the head of the bolt clockwise (screw bolt into the hydraulic block) to increase pressure. If I remember correctly, about 1/2-1 turn. Check with pressure gauge on rear hydraulic outlet. Adjust as needed. Retighten lock nut. Takes about 5 minutes to adjust. I increased mine to around 2750-2800 psi. Mechanic at JD said not to go too high. Keep in under 3000 psi. It does make a noticeable difference in loader lift capacity.

It should be in the same location on the open station. Not sure how easy it is to reach on OS.

Did you dial your 4520 up too?

Can someone post a picture or schematic of where this screw/lock-nut is located on an Open Station. Thanks.

I'm wondering if oil viscosity has a relationship to pressure. It seems to me that my tractor had more torque when I first got it. When I did the 50 hour my dealer gave me the lighter viscosity fluid for our cold climate. I just ordered a glycerin gage to check the pressure.
Anyone got feedback on this idea?

2YD, here's a scan out of the JD Service manual.

On my 4120 I removed the seat, removed the fasteners from the plastic closeout panel and was able to gain access to the adjustment without fully removing the panel.

Hope this helps.

Jon
