John Deere 3520

I'm looking into getting a JD 3520 for our hobby land. Things for use would be brush mowing, deer food plots, small projects around the area. Probably digging out the occasional tree stump as well. Looking into a 2008 JD 3520 with 153 hours on it. It has a model 48 backhoe on it and a 300CX loader. The listed price is $27,500. Couple of questions. Is this a good price and would it meet the needs of the hobbies I have?

That is a great rig by the way.

How much acreage, what is the slope of the land, general soil condition are a few of the additional questions to understand.

IMO, assuming the tractor is in excellent shape, I would venture to say that $25k would be a fair price to pay. With the hours on it, it should look close to show room condition, if not, its care may be in question.

I think this is adequate to more than enough hp to do what you need to do.

I have 100 acres of mostly forested land. Its mostly level land. There are a few rolling hills.
Is this backhoe pretty durable? We have some large oak trees that we may have to stump out.

It is a durable tractor, however you always have to remember that you need the right tools for the job. If pulling lots of stumps is the main task, I would find other equipment, this isn't the one for lots of that kind of work. If the main use is to shape, maintain and farm the land, this will do everything along that line.

I recommend this tractor for your property but would also recommend that you rent or hire a trackhoe or dozer to do the stump removal then you can handle the rest of the land restoration and maintenance going forward with the 3520. If you are willing to do that, you will be very happy with your purchase IMO.
