Mine has served me well for 10+ years.

I have a 4100 that was ran hard before I got it. The issues I've had:
- charging system would not work --as I recall there was a relay that I plugged/unplugged 10x to fix what must have been a connector corrosion issue
- front wheel bearing (2 balls) disintegrated -- somewhere here I posted a detailed repair. I used to mow with the FEL on which required 4WD to work. Now I take the FEL off, get MUCH better rear traction, and do not need 4WD. Maybe that will avert future front wheel bearing issues. Years back I recall the dealer saying the front wheels were a weak spot
- mine burns oil -- probably a result of a water pump failure I tracked down via JD with the previous owner. I check the gas and fill the oil.
- occasionally there is no power to the starter - turn the switch and nothing. I used to think it was because of some bad sensors on the H-N-L shifter as it needs to be in N. Recently it seemed to be a wire over near the alternator. No idea really, but jiggling that wire did "fix" the problem once.
- hard to start in cold -- but see my note about burns oil; pretty sure that's related, although right now I also seem to have a fuel issue, but it's been -10 to 20 hear lately and I did see gelled fuel in the filter today. I cleaned it out, but not suspecting there's gelling further along.

I picked mine up for a song. It's an 04 with loader, mmm, 5' box scraper. It has 890 hrs and was used to salt walkways at a school. The body panels are roached. I could put my finger thru the rear fenders. Those are $500 a piece from deere, the floorboards were the same way. Luckily I work at a sheetmetal mfg and made my own. I also was able to sandblast and repaint everything which got me back to good. I have a few more "quirks" to work out, but have been impressed with it so far. Aside from the cost of replacment parts, it's a great machine

Our 4010 was a good tractor. It's more or less the single hydraulic pump version of the 4110.

The donut gizmo on the shaft between the engine and the hydraulics went on it at around 660 hours and 9 years (I'd been planning to trade it in this year anyway, but the gizmo going made me do it about a year earlier). Other than that, I only had breakage of both the 3ph tightener bars (one at a time) and lost the pin on the forward pedal. Don't recall anything else. Traded it in on a JD 1025R. Except for the really nice seat and long, precise setting of the 3ph on the 1025, I'd take my 4010 back in a heartbeat. Wish JD had a 1019S ("S" for the split brakes that the 4010 had and the 1025 doesn't). I'd also like my turf tires back. The R4s don't have much turning traction, and I worry that they won't resist sideways slidding in the snow (haven't had any snow this winter to test it on).
