Was doing some backhoe work on my John Deere 4200 and when I got off to move the tractor forward I believe the tractor seat was not all the way down making the safety switch and the tractor stalled out. Now it will not start up again. I metered the seat switch and it was good, tried bleeding the fuel lines and the lines where they go into the injectors but still no luck. Can someone give me some ideas as to what I might look for or do to try and get it running again???? Thanks

Does it crank? Something get stuck under the seat preventing the seat from making the switch? Fuses? Other safety interlocks (PTO etc.)?

Hope you get it going /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Have a close listen behind the dash for a prety good " CLICK" maybe your fuel cylanoid isn't opening. Kinda hard to discribe the sound but it is a little louder and harder sounding than a electric points opening or closeing typ of sound /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Mine has not opened "STUCK" before I just turned the key from off to the next position "ACC." a couple of times and it opened and started like it should. Hope it helps ya.

Yes the starter does crank over, and it is a hydro unit so no clutch has to be depressed........still trying like heck to get it going before shipping it off to the dealer!!! very frustrating!!! Thanks for the suggestions so far!!!

Also try looking at the HST neutral switch. It's been awhile since I looked at one, but it is somewhere underneath the right foot deck on the pedal linkage to the HST.

That switch must be in neutral for the tractor to start.

Sounds like a bad thermistor on the John Deere.....there has been a lot of these that have been problems on the John Deeere 4000 series ...a small easy fix.

PROBLEM:
the fuel pullin circuit does not engage On examination of the solenoid the is evidence of oil within the solenoid which requires additional force to pull in the plunger Replecemnet solenoid reacts the same
SOLUTION:
Consider the fitment of a replacement Thermistor part no LVU10323 The thermistor controls the operation of the fuel shut off pull in relay Should the relay fail to engage the Thermistor may not allow an earth circuit for the relay thermistor may be disengaging prematurly to expell the oil behindn 6the plunger Addition lnfo: for cold conditions use a 5W 30 engine oil the lower viscosity oil will be displaced easier from within the solenoid to allow operation

John Deere thermistor/starting problems.

I found out the hard way on my JD 4400,luckily it was under warranty,JD replaced the fuel pump/starter and the problem was never corrected and they came to my house one day while I was out working on the tractor and the JD tech had the thermistor in hand,he installed it on the spot and I never had the problem again.
