It works!!!!

Thanks to one and all who offered help and suggestions. I'm not sure I'd have figured it out without you all.

My problem ended up being related to the lift arm position feedback rod. The shaft that that linkage is connected to that goes into the rockshaft control valve was siezed, and the roll-pin was broken, so there was no feedback for the valve to know when to stop. Freed the linkage, and replaced the roll-pin (5/32" if anyone needs to know that. I put in a 1-1/4" long pin, but a 1" will do the job just fine).

I am glad that I tore the whole thing apart, and I'm even glad that I removed the valve and checked it for debris and damage. None found, but I did replace the 3 o-rings on the back before putting it back together.

After re-assembly, I started the tractor and adjusted those two nuts on the feedback rod until it acted right.

I AM still getting oil in the cover for that valve, but I have to believe that's normal due to another thread where I saw that there is a relief valve and a relief valve port that exits into the housing.

Thanks again, and hopefully I can help someone else out when they need a little advice.

BTW: I had some permatex "Black" gasket maker on hand, so I used that on final assembly. I'll fire it up tomorrow after it has a good chance to cure.

I think I need to add a little hydraulic oil also as I'm sure I lost a 1/2 quart or so in the process. Maybe I'll just change it again as it's been 4 years.

Thanks again!

Glad to hear it all worked out for you. Saved some serious $$ in labor and parts if you had to have it hired out. Be sure to keep that shaft lubricated occasionally. I try to get at mine about every 6 months with fluid film.

Very good point... as per my 'mantra'; If it moves but doesn't have a dedicated grease nipple (zerk), spray it with lubricant.

I'll add it to the list. I spray the brake shafts once or twice a year and the mid PTO lever also. I broke a roll pin on that one too.

Thanks for replying with your fix. I did a post on my 4310 many years ago.
