john deere 4310
I have a 4310 john deere.
I bent the tye rod and need to remove it.
I took off the nuts on each side that holds the fitting in the casting but can not remove the bolt with the grease fitting on top. Is this theaded into the houses along with the nut.

thanks for the help, Jim

If its like my 4300JD (and most others) they are a tapered shaft. Hold a BIG hammer against one side of the forging and hit the other side with a smaller hammer. Should pop right out. (you will be hitting the forging, NOT the ball joint). You can also use a "pickle fork" but they often chew up the rubber seals.

I was able to straighten my tye rod by loosening the nuts, spinning it 180 degrees and then applying force.....Just don't forget to turn it back the 180 degrees to re-align the toe-in.

Thanks for the reply.
not sure what you mean by hitting the forging and not the ball joint, I don,t see how that would remove the fitting, Not to good at this stuff.

thanks Jim
