John Deere 455 Seat - OEM vs Aftermarket - Any opinions??

Thanks. I stopped by the local JD dealer yesterday and they had both a 2R series tractor and a X590 with this exact seat. I sat in it and it feels better then the original 455 seat. I ordered one from a supplier on Ebay.

Mine came from Seat Warehouse and has the Milsco info stamped into the underside of the seat but I don't know if the ebay ones are actual Milsco seats or not. If you already ordered it I guess we will find out!

It was represented as a Promek (ie Milsco) seat #XB200Y-N made in the USA.

I have that exact seat. I put it on my 345 about 3 years ago and have not had a single problem. It is made by Milsco who is indeed the JD supplier. They call it their "XB-200" seat. It is exactly like the Deere seat except it doesn't have the Deere logo and it has more threaded holes underneath which makes it a little more "universal". It has marks where you could install the armrest kit I just haven't done it (the indentations are there but I don't know if it uses a self-tapping screw or if you would need to install threaded inserts).

I highly recommend it. I don't know where you looked but I get seats from Home - Seat Warehouse and have been really happy with their pricing and service.
If its like the seat on my father in law's mower, they put a metal clip over the edge of the plastic and bolt through the plastic, then into the metal clip.

Just a followup. I installed my Milsco XB-200 seat on my JD455. I really like it better then the original seat. It feels a little more ergonomic in back support and it tends to sit a little bit higher. Quality seems very good. It was also $60 cheaper then an original replacement. (and it's been previously mentioned that Milsco is an OEM for JD). This is the same seat that's on a X590 and the 2R series.

If your 455 seat vinyl is starting to crack, I highly recommend this one.

Maybe it's just the angle of the photo, but in the last photo of the seat, it looks like it is sloping down towards the front. If it really is, do you feel like you are going to slide out of it?

It probably has springs in the back of the seat that push it up until someone sits in the seat.
