I let everything go with the 955 other than the Woods 68 inch reverse rotation tiller. The new tractor would eat up the old attachments. The neighbor that I help out across the street has a farm, and he has a 5 and 7 foot brush hog as well as a 12 and 15 foot batwing. We were going to try the 12 footer on the 4720 but we didn't need it just yet.
The farmer who owns the property next to me, bails hay in the fields. I just cut paths around the property other than the dam of a five acre pond. The dam is probably 3/4 of an acre or better. It is also very steep. I felt like I might want a suitcase weight or two on the front on the steeper parts, but the tractor did well. The 955 didn't give me any, I might need to jam reverse feelings. It might be the new higher in the seat cab tractor. Both are hydro. I just cut the dam with the 72" belly mower.
Both main farms are a few miles away next to each other, so I figured I would see what I could do with what I have before I went to pick attachments up to use then drop back off. I will keep the dam mowed now so it wont be an issue. I usually mow the dam every two to three weeks depending on the rain.
They have a 90 hp JD cab tractor, I can't remember the model, that runs the batwings, so we thought the 4720 could do it. The farmer who owns the pond next to my property, would cut the dam with an old school 4320 or 4520 with a 15 foot batwing. It eats up a lot of horsepower mowing tall grass up hill. I had to keep it in mid range 7 mph top speed and I was running about 4.5 to 5 mph up hill. There is a speedo on the E hydro dash. I hope this helps. Once I get the batwing on, I will report how it does. The trails I cut are kept to a minimum, just enough to get a pickup through.
I have an old beat up 42" pull behind brush hog for 4 wheelers that I am planning on mounting vertically to keep the trees at bay at both farms. I saw the idea on the internet. I am going to put a hydro motor on it and I have to reroute the return oil to the sump, so it doesn't overheat the oil. I might go one further and make it so I can cut above too. I spent quite some time with a pole saw making some room for the cab.
