John Deere 5010 s/n 1000 sells on eBay

Was anybody watching the auction for the first John Deere 5010 tractor on eBay? The auction finished today and when the smoke cleared the hammer fell at an amazing $79,100!

As you can tell, it is an old tractor in rough shape. But it has that magic serial number plate attached to it.

Can you imagine what the first 3010 or 4010 would be worth?

Well, we'll see if it ends up being re-listed for non paying buyer.

I'm sure whom ever bought it, they must have double check its authenticity.

$79,000! The seller is happy, he's already left positive feedback.

And the buyer would have had it for $42k where most everybody dropped out, if a newbie - only one feedback - hadn't bid some 40 times trying to top him.

The risk of bidding up like that is, you have to have the $$$$ to back it up. Who knows if that newbie did or was just bidding up.....

It makes me wonder if the newbie was a shill bidder driving the price up for the seller.

It looks like there was more then one newbie there.

To each his own. I suppose it's the risk you have to take when you bid on stuff- online and at live, in person auctions.

The 5010 went to the same guy who owns the first 3010 and 4010. No mistake, he paid what he bid. Guess when you have the money and you decide you want a collection...

Dang..... that's been verified?! The person who bought the 5010 also owns the first 3010 & 4010.

I wonder if the guy who has the first 3010 and 4010 looked for the 5010 tractor and tried to buy it from the owner? And when owner found out he had the "first" one, tried to cash in (see how much he actually could get). I mean, if someone tracked me down trying to buy my tractor..........

Seller didn''t do bad for being the 'second owner' (if what the auction said was true....)

So.... how much is Ebay's cut????
