John Deere 625 i transmisson slipping

I washed my J.D. Gator 625 i and the transmission slipped for a while..Seems to have stopped after riding it a while..Did I do any damage? What should I avoid getting wet next time I wash it? Thanks..

You got the belt wet. No real damage caused doing it one time. Try not to get the drive belt wet, it will glaze over and slip easier as it happens more.

Thanks! Is there a way to wash the engine without getting the belt wet? If not, how about if I did not drive it for a day after washing it?

Letting it sit would be fine too.....as long as you're not putting it under strain going uphills or towing with it wet I wouldn't worry about it too much. The 825i has the belt pretty well covered, unless you spray in the vent it's just about impossible to get the belt wet. I'm surprised they didn't enclose the 625i the same way

Gee, I didn't know JD left the 625 belts exposed.... We have fully enclosed belts on all or tow/work machines. Nonetheless, the CVT air intakes sometimes ingest snow and they'll slip for a bit.. It is worry-some for operators when this occurs but the CV belt seems to dry off and run fine again. Do note, we operate these machines at high outputs and replace all our CV belts yearly.

I think that the 625I is supposed to be an enclosed housing, just some changes to the air intake hose. Now early model 620i's had an open clutch. Either way all of the full size xuv's can be made fully enclosed if not already.

Mine has the open part in the top of the housing..I suppose I'll be okay as long as I avoid spraying water there in the future..Thanks..I like my Gator except for the excessive loudness..I am considering selling it to buy something quieter..

If quiet is your thing the RTV 500 may be a nice option. They don't have nearly the power or the nice ride that a Gator does but they are very quiet for a UTV
