Long time viewer, first time poster here. Thought I might share my 62D mower storage ideas, maybe someone would find them useful like I have for so many things on this website.

I built the rear dual wheel axle like many here have using a 24" section of 1/2" iron pipe and Harbor Freight wheels. One change that made construction easier was that I used 5/8" lag bolts screwed right into the end of the pipe for the wheel axles. They tightened up fine and will be easy to remove next spring when the mower goes back into action. If wanted, the bolt head could be cut off, then drill a hole and pin it for quick wheel removal.

For the front axle, I wanted a single wheel that pivots for easy moving (thanks to others on here for this idea). I figured the mower caster wheels weren't doing anything so I just used 1/2" and 3/4" pipe fittings to build a 90 degree axle that fits in the caster wheel mount. This is a 1/2" pipe nipple, a 1/2" to 3/4" reducer and a 3/4" tee. Drill a hole in the nipple for the lock pin to retain the axle. The pipe fittings will turn when moving the mower so make sure to tack weld or use red Loctite to keep everything in place.

Here's a couple of pics of the finished product, total cost of about $20 including the wheels which were about $12 on sale. That's it for now, hope this will help someone like I've been helped in the past.

Welcome to TBN as a member. I don't have a mower deck like that but I was just reading through the post as I often do when I get a chance and of course look at the pictures. It's like you said I have learned a lot on this forum and have got help when needed. Merry Christmas.

Welcome to TBN!
Great project you have there, thanks for sharing!
I wimped out 10+ years ago and bought the ones from Larrys Mower Axles, storing the deck upright is a huge space saver for sure.
My one concern with yours is the pneumatic wheels, if one deflates (as many of the import ones do quickly) the deck could fall over, just be carful!

Doggone you! I think you may have added another project to my already too long winter list.

I've got HF pnuematic tires on mine and I haven't even had to air them up in 4 years. I never thought about having one flat, but I think it would still be stable. I probably should check it out.

:welcome: to TBN

Clever idea, and will look at adapting that for my extra 54C deck.
