On a JD 6400 PowerQuad with the early style torsional damper and driveshaft... Anyone have any tricks to removing it? I can't seem to get it to budge. The service manual simple says to remove remove the 4 bolts at the input shaft flange, and 6 bolts on the torsional damper, then remove. Isn't working quite that simple for me.

Looking at the parts illustration it looks like you are trying to pry 1 away from 4. It appears that 4 is held onto 1 with the flange 5 using the bolts 3. My guess is 1, 4, and 5 will have to come out as an assembly so you can access the #3 bolts.

As do I. I'm prying on #1 since it's the only thing I have access to pry on. I believe 1, 4, & 5 should come off the flywheel as an assembly, then be able to be separated by removing the #3 bolts. The whole assembly should nearly fall of with the bolts removed, but that just isn't my luck on this one. The service manual even warns not to crush yourself with it because it's heavy LOL.

Looks that way, but I assure you I am prying on #1 against the flywheel. #4 is in a recess on the flywheel. #1 has a big rubber cushion that has a lot of flex, so it probably doesn't really apply that much force. I tried a slide hammer bolted to the trans side of the flywheel with no success. So I built a shade tree pulling system and am applying an incredible amount of pulling force directly to the driveshaft still without success. Oddly, I can turn the motor by hand with all this pressure on it, and the pilot bearing/bushing turns freely, but still won't release.

What we are saying is it looks like the flywheel comes off with the assembly. Bolt 3 is what is holding the assembly together. Looks like there is 8 of them. You will not be able to get to them until the flywheel is removed.
