Newb here!

Over the winter, the clutch on my '89 John Deere 650 decided to stick. Other than cracking it open, is there any tips on how I might break loose?

Thanks in advance!
Tom

To clarify: the linkage and pedal work fine, the plate is stuck inside, I'm assuming from slight rust?

This would happen with the old Fords sometimes until I made a stick to keep the clutch pedal partially depressed over winter.

I've been lucky because I was able to start it by turning the key while rolling down the road and driving it with the clutch pedal fully depressed it eventually broke free and I was good to go.

Nothing to loose if you can free it up by driving it... worst that can happen mechanically is part of the clutch material separated from the disk and then you would have no choice other than to replace.

Store it with the clutch depressed from now on, life will be a little easier
