John Deere 70 - Part Name and Help?

Hi guys....

I don't know what this parts' name is... Although I know what it does....

I'm very good with Engines... Although I'm NEW to it all since I never got to play with them when I was young. I'm always interested in them but since I was Poor growing up, I NEVER got a chance to play with them... Anyway, now I'm older... I get to play with them LOL...

The reason I said that I'm good with Engines is because all I have to take a look at Engines or Parts and BAM.... My brain goes miles a minute to understand what it does... Luckily I don't need a Manual or anything like that... I don't know how I do it sometimes... But it makes sense to me everytime I see something... Like I said maybe cause i'm Lucky or a gift I don't know about!

Well, there are Tricks and Tips that I DO NOT know about since that is NOT my specialty, and I'm sure you guys will come up with something...

Anyway, I want to take this part out to Clean it and Refurbished it. Also, i'm trying to Clean out the Magneto ( this one I know, LOL)... So my Lawn Tractor will start quickly... That's what my main goal, refurbished to get bigger Jolt / Alignment...

1. There is a Pin in there... I think it Broke half way... I think the Pin suppose to pull up but the previous owner my have Broke it, I dunno? I have taken some pix so maybe you guys can help me out, taking it out.

2. I think it's the best way to do is Drill it ( The PIN ), lift it up, clean it and then replace it... That's the plan... Maybe there is another way to take it out so I don't have to replace it. I hate going to the Store just for 1 part, LOL

3. What is this parts' name? = Flywheel, LOL

If that pin broke half way the engine is out of timing. Usually this happens when someone hits an object and the engine comes to an abrupt stop but the flywheel continues to turn. Replace the shear key if it is damaged and you are good to go. They make pullers for these of you may be able to carefully tap the shaft to loosen it.

yup,the threaded holes are for use with a puller.

i have always done without the puller, use a very large
flat screwdriver or small pry bar, wedge it in under the flywheel
where you feel there is a good amount of material there to
support an impact (on both the flywheel and block)
once you have some "up" pressure (on both sides is preferred)
give the end of the crankshaft a tap (brass hammer is best)
and usually that flywheel "pops" right off the tapered
crankshaft.

as others have said, replace a broken or damaged keystock
because that is important to the engine "timing".

I just turned 41 and no, I'm NOT near Retirement or Rehabbing Engines as a hobby... I like a lot of things, I just do it to keep my Brain Sane !!! I dunno if that make sense....

To keep the Story Short... My Mom was really Strict / Secluded... Also because of her Mental Health I was kept in a Shell. Although I wasn't able to Touch a lot of things. I still have my Eyes... And boy did these Eyes wonder... LOL. I was Physically / Mentally abused, so life was tough for 19 years with my Mom. I spent the next 20 years Soul Searching... Because of my Mom, I was the only child until I was 12... My Sister came along, and she was / is the Reason I'm alive today, and if people tells me there is NO GOD, look again... It's NOT the GOD that most people talked about, Jesus, Allah, Budda, or whatever you think it's God. I don't believe in those kind of Gods either... But without a Higher Being working His or Her Magic, I wouldn't be here...

Here's an example, just to name one;

If you are the only Child, and your Mom is the only one in this World for you. She abuses you Everyday, Yelling, Screaming at stupid things, Hitting you for little things that you do, and everything you do.. No matter how hard you tries, it's wrong and you get Hit for it. Reguardless of what you do, you will end up getting Hit or Yelled at, even for washing your hands. Yes, according to my Mom there is a Right way washing your hands....

Anyway, I started to have feelings or woke up when I was like 11yo. I started to feel that this wasn't Normal, why other kids' Mom doesn't hit them, or yell at them or screaming at them for stupid things that they do... At 11-1/2 yo, I started to think that I should Kill Myself and funny thing is... My Mom is pregnant at the time... I have no body, no Uncles, no Aunts, no Father, no Grandfathers / Grandmothers, it was easy to Kill Myself. It's the most painful thing I can give to my Mom as a revenge, is to Kill Myself. Hurt the Person that hurt you the most, and at 11-1/2yo this was my only choice. Well, at 12yo, my Sister came... Now I have something, someone to live for... If I don't stay Alive, who will look out for my Sister? Who is going to protect my Sister when my Mom hits her? Who is going to be there when my Sister doesn't have someone or anyone to talk to? Her Father is long gone, just like my Father... Now I stated my Evidence, if there isn't a Higher Being at work here, then I don't know what it is... Whoever God is He or she, kept me Alive and gave me Strings so I couldn't Cut it, even if I chose to. I can't Kill Myself now, I will hurt Not only my Mom which I could careless, but my Sister. The only Innocent Person I know so far of my 12 years i smy Sister. She doesn't deserve any of this.. She doesn't deserve knowing that he brother killed himself at a young age and the Painful memories she will endured. So here I am Alive at a work at a Higher Being reguardless of what you believe... Jesus, Allah, Budda, or whatever you think it's God. Needless to say, I tried Killing Myself 2X after that... Everytime I tried, I couldn't do it because of my Sister... If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be here today... She's here for a Purpose, because now I have a Purpose... Since I was 6, I use to think that if there is a God, why don't he come an rescue me? Why NOT show a sign? Why was I born? Sitting there asking why? Everyday, every hours... All that time and still is today. It's in the work! Whether you believe it or not it's up to you. Yes, you need evidence to believe He or She is there... Search for it, you will find it! Glad I found mine and now I think it's a Gift !!!

I have NO other Family members, because of my Mom, relationship is kinda hard I think it's because of the long Mental abused. Physical abuse was an easy fixed, since all Scars and Bruises healed. But like most people said, the State of mind is Unstable. For the past 22 years, my main goal was to fix my Head... Yah, it was rough and boy it's like a Road... Sometimes rocky, smooth, curved, wet, long and winey... You get the Picture... But I made it this far... I'm proud of myself since I didn't get help from anyone... Not even a Shrink. Either I die trying... or die, these were my two choices and still is...

The toughest part was growing up without anyone to talk to, no Uncles, no Aunts, no Father, no Grandfathers / Grandmothers, or even Cousins... My Mom decided to leave / run away from everyone and start her new life somewhere that she doesn't know anyone, I was 4 years old then. Needless to say, she was Running until I couldn't Run with her anymore. Until she HIT that Wall and it wasn't stone. It was the White Walls in the Mental Hospital and that was 18 years ago. Although I left home at 19, I was still running with her... Oneday, at 24yo I decided that either die or die trying to stay away from her... Die trying it was and that's why I'm alive today. It is still tough now and then... So to keep my Head Sane now. I play with the things I wasn't able to play as a kid, and yah... I didn't have no Toys as a kid.

I don't blame on anyone or myself for my misfortune or expect empathy towards my less fortunate... I just look at the good things in life and tries to go towards it. I play the Cards that was dealt to me and had to played it well. Either I die or die trying... These were and still is my two choices...

Anyway, I hope that shed some lights toward your question about me... Although I would like to write a Book someday, but openning that can of Worms can be painful and I'm NOT ready to do just yet. I have a few Books linning up because of my past experiences. But the most importantly because of the abuses it made me a better Person, Stronger than most and most importantly a Gift from above (GOD)... Things make sense to me easily.... So there are Bad things and Good things that came out of my story. Now I just take it oneday at a time, and I fiddle with things to keep my Head Sane that's all...

P.S.S... At 41 and NEVER heard my Mom says " I LOVE YOU " !!! I think i'm just a DUST on her Path really !!!
