John Deere 730 PTO problems

Was tilling today and everything was operating fine...Late when I got back on the tractor, the PTO would not engage...Anyone have a clue what this might be??

Linkage OK? I'm assuming that the pto clutch was engaging positively while you were tilling? No slippage or speeding up and then slowing when the clutch took hold?

@AKfish...Thanks for the reply...No linkage problem...Took it loose to manually engage---still no luck

Did you accidentally disengage the shift lever at the front of the floorboard??? It's also possible the clutch linings need tightened by adjusting a nut on the inside of case.

Yes, we definitely disengaged--on purpose...It's almost certainly inside the case
