John Deere 755 used, how do I check for blowby?

I found a used 755 kind of close to me that I am going to go check out. Has around 1200 hrs, 4X4, 60" belly and a hyd. snowblade. I want to make sure it is sound because it will me my new (to me) mower. What do I look for on these and how do I tell of excessive blow-by? What should something like this cost? Pretty good shape.

On most older Deeres' there should be a breather pipe running down the engine in front of the clutch pedal. Warm the engine up for 15 to 20 minutes and check for excessive smoke and back pressure.
