John Deere 790 What is it worth?

Hey guys! I am looking at buying a tractor for around the house. I have several sewer lines to dig and 1/4 acre of yard to level out for lawn. I also dig trenches for propane lines from time to time. I am looking at this tractor and wondering if it is a good deal. Also I am open to your input if you feel something else would better serve me.

2004 John Deere 790 Tractor. It comes with Backhoe, Brush Hog, Box scraper, Landscape Rake. It has 125 hours on it. $18900.
Hows that price?

Great tractor, the 790... Price sounds good too.

However, it's not a machine I'd want to dig sewer trenches with. Those trenches have to be fairly deep and wide enough for someone to work in.
Might be OK for the propane lines, but even then, a dedicated trenching machine might be a better option.

Good morning

Being from Canada, I can't make an accurate comment on the price, although that is a lot less than I paid for an 4310, FEL and 48 BH. However, if you are buying this machine mainly to do trenches, you will need an FEL to ballast the hoe and make the job of backfilling the trenches much easier. Good luck.

Aaron,
I would assume the tractor has FEL, and a Deere 7 Backhoe? If so, the package sounds like a decent deal for the money.
The backhoe works well for small ditches like you say, but keep in mind it is only 27hp, and the backhoe isn't super powerful, but for around the house it should be a nice machine. Does a dealer have it or an individual?

It is a private party deal. Actually on Ebay right now. The tractor is in Oregon.

It certainly looks like a nice tractor. The seller has a lot of Ebay activity, it might be worth having him give you the serial number and see if he really was the owner as he states. (a local dealer should be able to help you).
But, the tractor has the JD 419 loader, and 7 backhoe, a 4' rotary cutter, and other branded york rake and box scraper. It looks like a good deal for the package, if everything is in good condition.
