Got a question about my JD 790 hydraulic system. After sitting up for a month, the power steering is not working, and my lift for my loader and bush hog are not lifting. I let the tractor cool and checked my hydraulic fluid. It checked ok. The tractor has a little less than 1000 hrs on it, and don't remember if I ever changed fluid. Should this be my first step? Just wondering if there could be another problem/ Tks

This is a common problem - most common solution is that the cleanable hydraulic filter in the sump needs cleaning and the hydraulic oil needs replacing. Whether that is it or not, you still have to change that oil and replace & clean both hydraulic filters to start. And lots of times that will do it.
But the most common mistake is not servicing the cleanable filter.

Tks for the information. I looked at my old service records and sure enough never changed the hydraulic filter or oil. That will be my first step.
