My first post so hopefully I'm in the correct forum

I tried the search option to no avail

I'm looking at a JD 3520 tractor . I presently have a JD 1020.

I'm on hilly ground and need wide spacing and I would like to know if the 3520 comes standard with the 8 position rear wheels . The tractor will have R4's .

according to the online manual (Manual OMLVU23778) the wide position is 75 inches. I' assuming they're measuring center to center.

Any info on width would be helpful

Thanks

My Kubota L3200 has R4's which are not adjustable width, unlike the R1 rims. Not sure if that is true for others.

Jd's "build your own" site will tell you what comes standard. 75" is center to center on the front and it would be 71.1" in the rear which puts them in the same wheel track. Tire width being the difference.

Thanks for the info

The info I get is this is the standard equpment although I've never seen this setup on a lot
7-14 6PR Front R1 Bar 2 Pos.
11.2-24 6PR Rear R1 Bar 8 Pos
I can't seem to find dimensions there

If I go here
OMLVU19809_L8

and scroll down to select - Changing wheel spacing and tread width I can see the dimensions

I also see dimensions for R4's and others

So I can assume if I'm looking at a used 3520 unless it has R1 it probably doesn't come with the 8 position wheels

Eight position? Can't be done with a two piece pan and rim and when I tried to do the math on getting 8 separate widths out of a wheel I got a headache. How about wheel spacers? There's a vendor that comes up here frequently that people rave about, quality wise. Do a search on wheel spacers. With those you could have your R4 cake and eat it too.

I think it can. The rims have two sets of mounting lugs. That's two positions. They can be attached to either the inside or outside of the wheel. That makes four positions (granted, two of those differ by only the thickness of the wheel, maybe 3/8"). Then the wheels can be mounted either dished in or out. That makes eight positions.

Actually my preference would be R1 tires. That's what I've always used on my land, it's mostly hillside .

I could probably get by with R4 tires if I could get 60 inches on center.

Also I think I could get by with a 3120 , 3320 or 3520 with MFWD and loader. I don't really put that many hours on the tractor to warrant a big expenditure.

I would like to modernize and have the added convenience of a loader and MFWD.

I think I'll be looking for a good used low mileage 3120,3320,3520 with R1 tires and 8 position wheels as my first choice. But I'll be checking others out

All true, except often the narrowest one or two settings can't be achieved due to insufficient fender clearance on many tractors. No experience with 3000 series Deeres.

That point is made in the article by JD linked in another post. But that wasn't the question raised in the post I replied to - the question was whether it's mathematically possible to create 8 positions. The fact that in real life you may have to remove the fenders and more to use some of them is just reality impinging on theory. :confused2:
