Hello. I have a John Deere Commercial Walk Behind "38 Comm Mow" s/n GX1320X022204. My transmission is completely shot according to my local small engine repair guy. I have found three different part numbers for this transaxle: Am119097, AM118601, and AM115143. Unfortunately I cannot find one to buy for less than about 2800.00 dollars. There was a tuff torq replacement for the AM119097 which had a part number 4910863423. Can't find it in stock either. HELP! Are there any other knock offs or part numbers that I could try? A rebuild kit? All the gears are shot, shifting forks are missing etc. I don't really want to spend more than about 300, because the mower was only 600 to buy a few years back. I guess it's a hard transmission to find because of the independantly clutched/braked sides. Anyone got any ideas? I love this mower, but the parts are too dang expensive! Plus if I don't fix it, what do I do with it?
