F935 Front Mower
Hi All, New Here, Looking for advice on Replacement mower
Thank You In Advance!

History of current machine ...
I currently have a JD f935, " Early 80's model" Bought from a company i worked for before they closed.
It was Serviced there by hours, but it was used by anyone they could get to run it on overtime. So it wasn't really treated like one you would your own!
Ended up getting gas instead of diesel one day so when i bought it it had a low hr new engine in it. I use it to cut approx 4 ac weekly, not the best condition lawn and around the
garden with taller grass, also thru a pine tree area we have started a few yrs ago. It IS Tough as Goat lips as ive heard said.
But the hydro trans has started leaking, and i broke the engine to hydro drive, Shaft and couplings this weekend. " Just Worn out parts" And just thinking of not more putting money into this machine.
Dont know the true hours but its been a great machine, and really held up well. So...
Looking at all the newer options, It comes down to ... I cant afford another diesel in the heavy duty range like i want in a newer year model.
Ive looked at a lot of machines on line and I keep coming back to a used F935 on-line.
But i need your thoughts on Price, Are these hours to hi, etc on the machine I am looking at...

1997 JOHN DEERE F935
Mower in excellent condition. 1 owner who was very fussy with his equipment. 2,480 hours Yanmar diesel.
For Sale Price: USD $4,500
The photos are showing as Shiny Paint, Super clean engine bay, good tires, deck with small missing paint ares, mostly along edges, clean seat etc. Basically all the things my well used and abused machine dont have!

I see other machines like this with around 1700 hrs, for the same money, Not in great physical condition.
My engine still runs great, does not smoke, and has some other parts that could be used on this new machine if ever needed.
So what do You think?

I really don't know much about those mowers, but I certainly wouldn't be scared of a well maintained Yanmar diesel motor with 2,500 hours on it. And you've already got a parts mower, so it could be a smart buy.

Check the John Deere Lawn & Garden subforum here: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/john-deere-lawn-garden/ You'll probably get more responses there.

Also, check TractorHouse.com for pricing, but just remember that those prices are asking prices and they are dealers who have a markup over what you would pay in a private party transaction.
