John Deere finds quality in China!

Heres the link to the JD website. It shows and explains the fact that John Deere has made a joint venture with the chinese to build tractors in China with quality worthy of the JD name. I guess they feel that the chinese have improved enough over the years to build a quality tractor. If anything, it will put evidence about the big 3 having tractors made in china.

I have seen the sight and these tractors appear distinctively different from the Deeres we are accustomed to seeing. I am under the impression that Deere has entered into this joint venture with the intention of these tractors being sold and used in China. Do you think these tractors will be seen at American dealerships? Currently there are John Deeres being sold in Europe that are different from the American Deeres. Some of those tractors are imported as used tractors or "grey markets" and John Deere warns consumers about buying these tractors due to parts support.

I'm surprised companies cry about parts support... a sale is a sale.... Guess they think if they offer too good of parts support, that people may only buy the grey's..... Glad they are thinking about customer first/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I sell grey market Yanmars and deal with people telling me they have heard that "John Deere builds Yanmars" and "You can get any Yanmar parts you need from John Deere". I have read John Deere's position on these Eurpoean tractors and it goes something like this. There are some differences in the European tractors and the American tractors. Another thing is that all the model numbers are different. So when Joe Q. Public goes in to the Deere dealer and asks for a head gasket for a JDXXX and the dealer says Deere doesn't build one by that number, the confusion and frustration begins. I am sure that Deere doesn't design totally different engines and such for the European market so there are surely cross over parts. The problem is what would it cost John Deere to cross reference all the Euro parts to American part #'s and then distribute this info to their dealers for the handful of Grey market Deeres out there?

It is my understanding that yanmar builds for john deere. I owned 2 336D and wish that they were still available. I liked the powereshift and the 2 sp pto of the yanmar.
I heard that john deere told yanmar not to import their tractor because it took to much market from jd.

Rdbrumfield is right. The small to mid size JD's are made by Yanmar ( Japan) and JD has the exclusive import rights in North america. You might still find some older or grey market Yanmars though. People figured out quickly that the Yanmar was the same as the JD and wondered why the Yanmar was thousands less, so JD put a stop the the new Yanmars showing up in the states. The green color is expensive

http://www.jdtt.com/ is the link to John Deere Tiantuo Co. in China. The tractors do look like JD tractors. The 600 series look like Zetors, which I know JD had a license to build some Zetor-based tractors in Mexico at one time.

Before the joint venture in 2000, there were various tractors that looked like John Deere built by the Tiantuo Co. Names on those tractors included: Tianjin, Tianjin Deere, Tianjin Tiantuo, Tiantuo, Tieniu, Avenger (model TN-804), Buddy (654L model), and Rhino International (8144 model).
