Hello, and thanks so much in advance for any help.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the stroke of the tilt cylinder is, found in JD's LVB26160 Top and Tilt kit? I'm trying to figure out if it's long enough to allow an implement to tilt equal distance (a decent usuable amount) both to the left and right, assuming horizontal for the implement (parrallel to the ground) is located mid-stroke on the cylinder. Also, do you know if their kit includes any kind of flow restrictors to allow for a more "gradual" control of the cylinder? (I'll be running the tilt cylinder off my LVB25506 control valve - 2005 3320.)

Thank you so VERY much!

On my 2008 3320 the tilt cylinder has a 4" stroke. Its the JD kit so I would assume its the same one you are asking about, just don't remember the part number.

No idea if it has the flow restrictors but the movement is nice and gradual for precise angle adjustments so it probably does. I control my top and tilt using the joy stick via the JD electric diverter kit, not the 3rd function kit you are referring to so there may be a difference in flow rates.

The implement will never travel an equal amount on both sides with just one tilt cylinder since the fixed pivot point isn't on the centerline of the tractor or implement. For an example with my 5 1/2 foot box blade on the cylinder side the travel is 11" at the outer edge of the blade, on the opposite side its only 4".

Those travel figures are just from the tilt cylinder travel and don't include any 3pt up or down movement.

JD has their "T&T" sets designed so that the side link is fully retracted to have the implement level, or at least all the sets that I have seen.

If this is the case for your set, something is very wrong. On the sets that I build, the side-side tilt is off between one half and one degree from being equal, depending on the hitch. That does not equate to a 7" difference like what you have.

As far as the OP, depending on how you would choose to have your side link built, but I would build it with either a 5" or 6" stroke unit and your implement would be level with the cylinder half way extended.

Move the manual tilt control to the left side when you install the hydraulic tilt on the right side. As has been mentioned install the hydraulic cylinder so the lift arm is level when fully retracted. If you have a need to tilt the left side down while keeping the right side up, crank the manual handle.

Yep, exactly what I do for most of my work.

I've also swapped sides the tilt cylinder is mounted on a few times since the hoses are long enough.

I'm not following you on that one

All of this manual tilting gets old real fast when ditching and then turning around and coming back the same ditch. Isn't that why you get hydraulic adjustments, so all this manual adjusting is done with your fingers on a lever or button??? Obviously it works, or JD would build them differently I would think. :confused3:

With the ram 1/2 extended, (level implement) the angle difference that you get from that point. Say extending gets you 10*, then retracting gets you 9*- 9 1/2*. If you wanted, you could dial in the extension-retraction so that you would get the exact same amount of angle.

Thank you all so very much for your responses and suggestions, I can't tell you how much I appreciate it! I'd love to go with a longer stroke cylinder, something custom made as suggested in this forum on other threads, but the cost for just the tilt functionality alone is almost $700 (with the slotted guides, something I would still need for some of my implements). So, I figured I'd spend a few hundred more and get the complete T&T kit from JD, use the tilt functionality of the kit, and sell the top link setup. If I had two sets of remotes to run both the top and tilt, I would probably install the whole kit, but since I don't, and can't justify/afford the added expense to install that too, this seemed like a good way to go. Again, I really appreciate all the help!
