We have a LX178 (1997) that I have owned since new and never had a problem of any kind. Recently bought X500 and was power washing the LX178 to sell (never washed in 16yrs). Now I have a loud grinding noise in rear transmission area when engine runs regardless of engine speed or whether tractor is sitting or moving EXCEPT brake is depressed, then the noise stops completely. Any ideas on what this might be? Thanks for your input.
