Your thoughts on this combination for 20 acres of mowing, JD says minimum 30 HP for this mower. Am considering L 4060 with 300 hours and this mower in a package deal. Concerned if they will perform well together. Tractor also has glide shift, if that would make any difference in performance with this mower.
Still looking for the right tractor for new property, have gotten great inputs from members of this forum, thanks to all.

My thoughts are, with all the MX6's that have blown up the gear boxes, I'd be buying a Woods Brush Bull to go behind that tractor!!

Did not know that, would a 5 ft mower be a better match, no matter the brand? I don’t like to push to the equipments limits and not get full performance out of tractor and mower.

As Rob says, buy a different mower.

I run 5' RC (Landpride 1260) on my B7800 (23hp PTO): for years and doing some pretty tough duty, I ran a Rankin [which was really only light duty]). Run a 6' RC (Bush Hog BH286) on my NX5510. It all depends on what you're cutting and what speed you're looking to cut at.

My BH286 was used commercially before I got it and it looks the part! Previous owner had 1/4" plate steel welded to the top deck (likely because the original decking was getting punched through). After putting a few bucks into it (bought it for $800) and have a mod to the tail wheel bracket (to strengthen) it's now totally brush-worthy, pretty much indestructible. QH compatible it ain't, which is the only downfall, but my NX has adjustable link arms and that makes for fairly easy hook-ups.

Concentrate on what job you need to do and what tractor; THEN worry about what implements (a used RC is generally fine, though as has been noted, the MXs are something that one would be better off staying away from).

Field conditions matter more than the HP or mower width. Here is dry Colorado I run an Peruzzo Brush Bull 2200, working width 87" behind my 40hp L4060. It does fine for the sparser fields & brush around here. My L4060 struggles mightily if we get thick grass though & I end up going really slow. If we were on the coast where their grass gets water I'd need a smaller mower.

If you go to wide you can just slow down. Trivial with a HST, not to hard with a GST. I prefer wide & slow to narrow & fast. Less bouncing all over for me & my machine.
