John Deere Question

I have a 1971 John Deere 4020 and would like to know the correct weight that fits the back Rear Cast Wheel R33430 of this tractor ? I have weights A3404R and they dont seem to fit ! thanks Eastwood72

If the weights come from an older series of tractor they won't fit properly as you discovered. If the weights are of no value as antiques then a bit of work with a cutting torch and they fit. The first weight installed just needs to be trimmed in the center of the circle. I've done it before but it was 35 years ago and I don't remember exactly where but I remember that it wasn't difficult. You only need to do the first weight and if your careful you can't see what is cut off as it fits against the cast center.

If you go to jdparts.com and look up model 4020, you will find the different wheel weights under the alphabetical listing and the part no.s there.
There are several selections depending on wheel size. i.e part no. R61727 for 30" wheel. Larger diam. says NLA for no longer available.

I think you didn't read casting # for rear wheel correctly as there's no PN R33430 but there's a PN 33450 in the late model 4020 PC.
R33450 DISK 1 ((A) AND 4000 SERIES) (SPECIAL OFFSET) (15.5-38, 16.9-38, OR 18.4-38 TIRE AND RIM) (SUB R70309)
This weight is for 34" & 38" cast wheels but doesn't specify "offset".
