Would to know the horsepower of this tractor I have been told that it was under rated. Can anyone tell me if this is true and what is the right horse power? The tractor has a fuel shut off valve for the poney engine with no speed control to govern it, work's automatic.

Rob,
What year would your R-7900 be.
If your tractor between the year of 1951 to 1954 they were known for there low end lugging power, and some consider the R-7900 an orchard tractor.

Even your older Cat dozer plus other yesterday heavier tractors had one set speed for there pony motors, for the rpm were needed to crank the cold diesel motors over..and some operator still give a spray of starting fluid to help the pony motor.

Maybe tractortips.com might have some information.
