Planters John Deere Single Row Planter?????

I just bought a John Deere single row planter. At least, I believe I bought one. I would like to use it to plant food plots of corn and other crops for deer.

I was wondering if anyone knows what model it is???? I would like to get a manual off Ebay if possible. Thanks.

It takes lustran B style plates, if that helps.

Have you tried to ask the person you bought it from as you can usually communicate with the seller through ebay?

Yeah, the gentleman said he didn't know. He bought it, but came across a deal on a 4 row planter and choose to use that.

From what I can see, it LOOKS like a re-worked #51 unit planter. (Early '60's)

I would agree. Someone made that planter by taking one row off of another planter and modifying it to work with a three point attachment to a tractor.

I almost bid on that since it was close enough to drive and pick up but I couldn't determine what model it was. I finally bought a 2 row model 71 off of a guy. I saw a JD 4 row pull type on the side of the road last week with a $250 sign on it but it was huge. I would have had to take it all apart just to get it on my trailer.
