John Deere STX38 Hood Problem

Help, I lost one of the springs for my JD hood; probably have to hunt one down at the dealer? Second, does anyone have a parts manual for an STX38 to assist with the correct replacement number? I sure could use a used hood if anyone has one for sale?

Also, the bracket assembly inside the hood is broken on one side....any ideas on repair or is buying one of those "puppies" the only way to correct this? I hate driving around with a sloppy lookin' JD!

If you go to www.johndeere.com you can negotiate your way to JDParts. Do a model search for STX38 and you will find exploded drawings of all the parts for your tractor. You will have to register to have full use of the parts section, but it is free. I believe the spring you are looking for is part number M82728 and you need 2 at a cost of $3.40 each, but verify it with your dealer.

I had to replace the hood on my STX38 after only a year or so......it's junk plastic and got brittle very quick, If what the other fellow typed dosn't help I think I have the page that has the hood part's with all the hardwear #'s on it and could fax it to you, send me a PM if ya need it and I'll hunt it down, I think I still have it?

The hood is I believe part number M113234 with a suggested list price of $215 without hardware or decals. I don't know if you want to spend that much on a new hood, but at least you have something to compare with while scouting for used parts.
