Is the the lease deal you're referring to:

I believe only the JD Ag. dealers are doing this, and upon lease completion... they end up with the units back in their laps... not John Deere. {I'm waiting for confirmation on this} So unless it's a LARGE dealership...well?/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

I still think someone can make a lot of money on this lease. $18,000 over 3 years is not chump change.../w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

Also don't forget this is only a little 750lb. round bale... not those giant 1500lbs. jobs you carry with your mighty can do anything 4700!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Yea I know it's only a 750 lb. one. I was thinking I might be a little safer with the JD /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. Plus it's a very favorable buyout a the end as well! I'll have to take some pics carrying those bales, the bales make the tractor look like a toy!!!

Just Got The Word!

The long awaited John Deere Video should be in your hands between this Friday, April 20th and next Friday, April 27th.

John Deere Corp. has a "third party" fulfillment center taking care of the orders and they were giving the word... get the video's out...or else?

And by next Friday, if we haven't received them...

Got my video this evening and watched it with #2 son. He's two and was less impressed than I was. If you are waiting in suspense for your own copy, skip my review and add yours without bias.

First let me state that I am a Deere fan and I own a green tractor. The video came in a very impressive box with a form letter, coupon for my local dealer (not who I bought from) and a brief brochure on the 4000 series.

It is a very well done video comparing Deere to Kubota and New Holland. From the very beginning though, this left me a bit uneasy as I detest comparisons by manufacturers. I always assume they are only highlighting the specific areas where their products are superior and ignore areas of weakness. I suspect this video is no different though they do an admirable job of praising the virtues of the others (including NH supersteer). Lots of good tractor footage which is fun to watch. Nothing about pricing but no surprise there. I would have preferred some more general education info to make me a more informed consumer, that always sits well with me coming from a manufacturer.

Overall, I'd say a decent attempt. If I were in the directors chair I would have spent more (nearly all) the alloted time focussing on the JD products, features and virtues leaving the comparisons to third parties and the consumer. If the product is truly better, the consumer will discover that on his/her own given the appropriate guidance and education.

I ordered a copy of the 5x10 owners manual before I bought the tractor. I had some questions and didn't want to bug a particular dealer since I was intending to ask for bids from several dealers (I live equidistant from 3 real dealers). Anyway, I had it mailed to my house on French Village Blvd in Georgia, and when the manual finally arrived (after two weeks), it was in French. I was a bit irritated, since it was holding me up from ordering the tractor. I called JD publications and left the lady a voice mail that was a bit smart assed, but still polite. I didn't actaully specify it was to be in english when I had firest ordered it.

She called me back laughing. The telephone sales rep entered the order as french, and they busted their butt to get a copy thinking I really wanted it in french. They had the wife of an African sales rep fedex a copy he had to them so that they could sell it to me. She fedexed me a new copy, and credited my VISA for the difference.

I called her voice mail back that night and asked her to make sure it wasn't in russian, since I did live in georgia.
