I watched "Island in the Sky" last night...great flick!

"The High and the Mighty" plays on AMC tonight...haven't seen that since I was a young lad.

Thanks for the info about John Wayne on AMC!

Frank,

Thanks for the tip. I didn't realize that they were having a marathon.

Watching a John Wayne movie is one of the very few things that will get the wife into an argument. I'll watch ANY Duke movie, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME. She doesn't get it and thinks I'm nuts to watch the same movie over and over.

Unless a person is a true Duke fan, they'll just never understand! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

HEY now that you have joined the ranks of us RETIRED folks you can watch all the DUKE movies you want. One of my favorites is one of his later movies "THE COWBOYS" i like to crank up the surround sound, drives the wife crazy /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif she also can't seem to understand how i can watch my favorite movies over and over and over! But she can watch her favorite movies over and over and over and that is ok /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I am a huge Duke fan, but I had not seen the Island in the Sky before. Watched it the other night and it was great. I love all the Wayne movies, but mostly the westerns.

I also like good westerns with other actors. I wish they would make some more modern westerns like Tombstone and Unforgiven. I think Tom Sellick is a good western actor, and also Sam Elliot.

I wonder who coulld be an upcoming western actor, or are they going to just stop making them?

Seems like they already stopped making them! I think MEL GIBSON or NICHOLAS CAGE could do fine in westerns.

Mel Gibson, yea, I think he could do it. Somehow I just don't see Nicolas Cage with hat, a 6-shooter, and riding a horse. But he might surprise me.

AMC has been running John Wayne movies all weekend, and darn it, Island in the Sky both yesterday and today was not closed captioned, and with my bad hearing I don't even watch movies that aren't. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Bird, thats ashamed, you would figure a lot of the people that would watch John Wayne movies would be from the generation that might need it.

On our vacation back in June we visited Alamo Village just outside Bracketville Tx.. It is where John Wayne filmed the movie The Alamo. Really a neet place and lots of pictures of the filming.

I never miss a chance to watch a John Wayne movie. My favorite John Wayne movie is the **** Fighters.

Its hard to choose, but the one I have seen the most is the comedy North to Alaska. I love that movie.

   / JOHN WANYE FANS #16
Gee thanks Alan! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I'm at work tonight and missing it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Guess I'll have to dust off the VCR and pull out the tape tomorrow morning.

Correction, this morning.

Alan, I watched North to Alaska again yesterday evening myself; probably haven't watched it more than 15 or 20 times. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I also have the complete album by Johnny Horton that contains the theme song.

I like all John Wayne movies too. I really like "In Harms Way" but my all time favorite has to be "Rio Bravo". The supporting cast is fantastic. Ward Bond, Dean Martin, Walter Brennan, Rickie Nelson and an incredibly young and foxy Angie Dickinson. This movie has it all: Drama, action, humor, singing, hero's and damsels in distress. I could watch it every Saturday night.

Regards,
Duber
