Congratulations Andrew!! Please do a review of it, after you put her to use. We are considering a 40 series tractor from JD like this. Maybe I should ask, What will you be doing with it?? Thanks!

Greetings!

After owning a 1977 JD 2630 Ag tractor (75hp) for about 10 years I ordered a JD 4052R yesterday! I have read this forum for years and gained a lot of knowledge and jealousy of the new technology. I didn't splurge for a cab that I would have loved to have but couldn't justify the money after using an open station for the past 10 years. I did order a lot of options including 3rd scv, rear scv tubing, electric diverter, 4th and 5th scv, power beyond, 2 speed pto, additional lighting, telescopic draft links and 7 pin trailer connector.

I currently own a JCB backhoe so I didn't order a loader but plan too once I am finished with my backhoe.

Dealer told me the build date would be September! Good thing im not in a rush for it.

Has anyone toured the plant where the compact utilities are made? The dealer said he wasn't sure if he could make that happen but would check on Monday.

Will post pictures in several months.

Andrew

Do you know where they are assembled? The tours on this site are for the big guys.

They are built in Augusta, GA. The dealer did what he could to get me a tour because it is not part of the Gold Key tour program. Someone from John Deere e-mailed me and said she might be able to get me a tour but not when mine was being built but then followed up and said it would not be possible for Augusta. They offered a plant tour where they built the 6k and 7k series tractors but I decided not to do that.

After having the tractor for a few weeks I can say it is awesome! So far I hooked up my Hardi 3point sprayer and sprayed about 5 acres of lawn for weeds and this tractor is a dream for that application compared to the old JD I got rid of. This is my first time operating a hydro transmission and it has been perfect for what I have been doing with it! The ePTO is a great feature for running low HP implements such as the sprayer, the tractor ran quiet and used little fuel after running it several hours straight.

One concern I had about going to the 4052r were all the implements I have that were sized for my old 2630. After spraying I hooked up the 8' box blade I have owned approximately 10 years. My driveway is 1800' long and I haven't maintained it in a few years so it needed work. The 4052 is approximately 6'3" wide so the box is a little larger than it should be but didn't seem to be an issue. Where I experienced traction issues is when I was trying to remove years of soil buildup that had encroached on the edges of my driveway. When I had put the driveway in my base was 14' wide and over the years it has narrowed to about 11' wide. I dropped one scarifier down and let it tear the grass off the edge of the driveway and it worked great as it uncovered the original base rock. However as the box filled up with this dirt and turf it started losing traction and had to engage 4wd which helped a little. At the time I was doing this the ground was wet and the tractor lost traction pretty easily with the weight of wet soil in the box so I am going to try this again once I have dry ground and give an update. My dad ordered me a 7' Woods land plane and think that will be a great tool to keep up with the driveway maintenance and the tractor should pull that with ease.

Next up is hooking up my fertilizer spreader and starting fall fertilization for my turf area and may try to get another spray treatment in this year. I am currently looking into dump trailers for use around my property and will give an update about what I find.

IMG_1308_1.JPG The 4052R is a strong litttle tractor. Its great using a tph brush mower being able to easily backup and go forward with a touch of a pedal on the hst. Picture in the post is from down under but if you click on it, it changes hemisphere's. Lol

I bet you really had traction problems carrying two round bales upside down. I never realized Iowa was "Down Under" until I looked at your photos. Nice tractor. Down pay any attention to the kidding.
