ford jubilee
I have a '53 jubilee I installed a Superior loader on & made up a barrel for the back for counterweight. It weighs approx. 600#, when tractor is cold it will lift okay, but after running just a few minutes it will only lift app. 1' . I have the original vane type pump & from what I've read it sounds like the pump may be weak. I was hoping somebody would have suggestions about anything else to check for & also wondering if the rear lift could be run off the front mount pump that came with the loader. Just hoping to find a solution other than spending a lot of money for another pump, so I would appreciate any comments.

Have you changed the fluid in it recently?

Yes, it has fairly new fluid

600 lbs. shouldn't be hard at all to lift for the Jubilee as it's rated for 800 lbs. I don't know if a Jubilee is the same lift system as a 601 Workmaster but I'll tell you what I know as I had trouble with it lifting. If you take the top plate off there is a little diverter valve in there and it gets stuck or may not be closing all the way. Dennis Carpenter sells a complete kit with o-rings, gaskets etc. and it's not that expensive. That little valve was stuck in the one I worked on, what happens is since it's on the top when it sits for periods of time condensation gets to it and makes it rust. I freed it up and it lifted like a new tractor. The hardest thing was getting the top plate back on and keeping the 2 little orings and gasket from moving, I did it by myself with muscle, I'd advise getting help as I should have, lol.

Thanks for the help on this-problem solved! I started with the first suggestion, thought the fluid had been changed recently, but decided to make sure. Drained out & put new in & it lifts great. That was an easy, inexpensive fix! Thanks again

One other thing... the lift system on that NAA is SIMILAR to a 600, but not the same. If you take the lift cover off, read the manual first.. otherwise you will be posting back to try to find a hard to find and expensive back pressure valve.

ALSO

It sounds like you have your counterweight setup so that the tractor must expend HP to keep that lifted ( leakdown and circuit regen ).

Why not have your weight built so that when it's on the 3pt, with the 3pt down at it's lowes level, the weight is off the ground!

For example. have your weight tub setting on a 3pt drawbar.. that way, the weight is 3-4" off the ground when all the way down.

All you have to do is then set the tub on a wood block or something so that you can hitch up to it.
