Jubilee turn distributor to start

I have a 53 golden jubilee that I have to turn the distributor to get it to start. I recently put a 6v electronic ignition in. Runs great once started. After shutdown, won't start warm or cold without advancing the distributor. Friend said I probably need to rebuild or replace the distributor shaft. Any thoughts? I have set flywheel 8 degrees btdc and rotor pointing at #1. I have set for 1243 firing order.

Check to make sure the distributor advance weight's aren't seized up. Take the cap off and grab the rotor. You should be able to turn it and have it spring back to where it was an it's own

There's no springback just about a 1/4" of wiggle when moving the rotor. Where are these weights located?

The weights are located under the the plate the the points are mounted on in the distributor.

I tried to look up Jubilee in the Ford parts diagrams online but obviously that 's a name for a tractor and not a model. Tractor Data does not list a Jubilee either.

Turns out I was missing the small metal clip that goes on the shaft. New Holland dealer had it and says that is what the problem is. I'll give it a try this afternoon.
