junk tractor hoods on John Deere tractors

Why is it that auto /truck manufacturers are held accountable for faulty products and have to pay for replacements and make improvements,Yet John Deere never improves or pays for these terrible/faulty hoods on thousands of tractors? They profit from the replacements that they sell farmers -costing more than many people pay for an automobiles and never have to pay for those crummy products. Why is that allowed to continue?
