hi everyone
about a year ago I started compiling materials to fabricate a grapple for my 6' loader bucket.I've read hours and hours on TBN to help me do this build So a big thanks to all .
The hyd portion of the build I used a dual DO3 subplate with 2 o/c 12vdc scv w/one valve vacant for future use.?
The electric side of the build I installed a seperate fuse box from an old 82' VW diesel rabbit ( god I loved that car... rip)I had and supplied power to it with a 4 awg.line knife switched at the battery. Then , from this fuse box to the scv and then to the joy stick which I installed 2 spst momentary buttons.(one for retract one for extend)
The metal fab. part of the build came together by chance when I found on craigs list in March 2011 a person selling old sky hooks $20. (used to hang swing stages on parpit on buildings) . By luck they were the same dia/radius that a tractor trailer rims . I had a few old rims that I cut in half and the welded it all together . It took quite of few 7018s but it is done .
Yesterday I used it for the first time ... awsome what a time saver around the farm.
Ok , so the reason I'm posting this on the Hydraulic forum is I learned something when building this and I have a question. What I learned is, there is a difference in series vs parrallel when desciding which D03 dual subplate to use:ashamed:Now the questions .. I inadvertently used a parrallel dual do3 subplate and the result was when under pressure fuild flow went to the unused scv/power beyond . Ok so my semi temporary fix was to replace the unused scv with a 2 position scv( Diverter type) and it is plugged on the work ports on the manifold.. is this ok to do ? are there risks in doing this that I'm noy seeing?
For those of you that have a hyd. grapple on a front loader.. how do you have the hoses retained and still keep enough play ?any tricks to share?
thanks

The dual DO3 subplate manifold I used is almost exactly like the surplus center one you linked to except it is parallel circuit .. so I essentially "blocked" it off by using another scv 2 position I had ...It was the easiest fix I had at the time ..The picture in the first post of the 3 position scv is what it was like before I changed it to what is in the picture in this post (a 2 position scv) . I can't think of any reason it would hurt anything doing it this for now... but surprises can get expensive and ?. So, I'd figured I 'd ask the pros on this site ?
thanks

That will work. If it leaks any at all, just screw some plugs in the ports.

Just keep the hoses short and looped out of the way.

I found I needed the most hose length when my grapple was dumped. Curled they had lots of slack. I put a tarp strap from the grapple to the mid point of the hoses. Keeps them from hanging too low when curled and stretches when dumped.
