Just a little confusion

So let's change spark plugs on our Husqvarna with the B&S model # 386777 1292G1 (23 hp) engine.
The tractor manual for the 2354GXLS says use a RC14YC gapped at .040
The sticker inside the hood says a RC12YC would be the correct temperature plug.
The Briggs & Stratton site confirms the engine should have a RC12YC gapped at .030
The web says the gap should be .032 to .038
I suspect it is not a critical requirement.

What plug is in it today? I'd look for a 12yc and gap it at .030, Briggs should know......

It's not a critical requirement until it's too far to get a hot enough spark to ignite the fuel. I agree with JT. Get the 12 yc and gap at 0.030.

If this engine is anything like the ones I have: B&S, Onan, Kohler, the ignition module delivers a spark to both cylinders simultaneously. This means that the larger the gap on the sparkers, the more stress in the electronics of the module. The gap of 0.030 becomes 0.060 and at 3600 RPM that module is working pretty hard. Just my five cents (no pennies here inCA)!!

Yes ... I'm using the 12YC @ .030 on 3 machines with B&S.
Using NGK in the Ferris with the Kawasaki.
It's just all the "bad" info out there is frustrating.
