My first build it yourself project the new Kubota. Lifting 24" diameter by 10.5' long sawlogs really shows how light the rear end is with only rimguard in the tires. It's a 2' cube made of 1/8" steel. The sides where the pins attach is reinforced with 4x8x1/4" plates. I salvaged some angle iron from an old elevator at a cottage we demolished to make the top and gusseted it where the pin is for extra strength. It's filled with sandblast sand because that's the only thing I had that wasn't frozen  Should be about 800 pounds of sand and a little better than 100 pounds of steel. No doubt it'll gain a few pounds as the sand gets wet. I coated it with two rattle cans of TSC brand Kubota Orange then added DOT tape and an SMV decal for good measure. Come spring I might empty it and fill with concrete to get a little more weight and might add some hooks or whatnot, but that's the fun part.

Had to get a picture in the dark with just the flash to see the difference between the good DOT tape and the cheap TSC triangle. Should make it a little harder to get hit after dark on the road.
