Tractor
JD 4066, 1023
off of my neighbor for $5500. Its a 4wd with MMM and rear blade and 412 hrs. I bought the imatch too. I am new to this site and have happily put it in my favorites. I have been reading on here for 3 hours. The mmm deck belt seems to be getting very hot as does the pullies is this normal? I dont see any grease fittings on the 60" deck.
I want to get a loader for it, will the new 200cx loader fit?
Will this tractor run a sp0iltter and a tiller. Thanks to all and look forward to your replies. Todd

Welcome to TBN:D

First, please do not cross-post in forums...it make questions much harder to answer across two different forums. Your post will get a lot of views in iether forums...

That is a great looking tractor you just scored!

-JD does not have a kit to adapt a 200cx loader to your tractor, you will probably be best to go aftermarket like from Woods or Koyker.
-The deck should have grease zerks, one on the top of each spindle and a couple on the idlers IIRC...
-A 4' tiller will fit quite nicely on the rear...
-A logsplitter would be painfully slow...

Welcome to TBN. Looks like you found a real jewel!!

Appears that your new tractor has the FEL hydraulic SCV's with joystick just waiting for a new loader. Might check with your local JD dealer - he might have a lead on a used model JD FEL - 419, etc. that would work on your 670.

Looks like your 670 has the "power-beyond" hydraulic circuit at the rear of the tractor, too. Of course, that would be the means to power a log-splitter for your tractor. I don't have any experience with a log-splitter for your size of tractor but the log-splitter that I had for my JD970 was also a real slow implement. (I ended up selling it..)

Congrats on your new machine and best of luck.

Nice tractor!!!

I had a '91 670 for about 2 years. I really liked it and kind of wish I'd kept it. It was a great fit for my property.

The 670 took the #60 loader. This is out of production but you might find a used one, so keep an eye out.

Can't comment on the MMM, since I didn't have one. However, I will comment on your tires. Those R-1's aren't the best choice for mowing a finished lawn. I had bar-turfs (turf tires with a more aggressive tread) which were easy on the lawn (unless the grass is wet) and, being pretty wide, added to the stability of the tractor.

FYI, the 670 shared many components with the current 790/3005 series Deeres. Engines parts are available, but you probably won't need any.

Nice! Very nice! Are you sure that wasn't 40 hours? Just a thought about the pullies and the drive belt-is the belt too tight? That would make both run hot. And check to see if there is a way to lube the spindles. I don't have a unit like yours, but have had many mowers over the years and ran into the same problem a couple times. Again, nice tractor! Enjoy!!

A PTO driven log splitter might be an idea.
