Tractor
Mitsubishi D1500
So.... I thought I would stop by and introduce myself and my "Kubota" tractor.

I recently picked up an older tractor at auction. Decent looking, bright orange, KUBOTA on the side. I started looking for information because the auction listing didn't have much information. The serial number was given as 992 and it ran. I started looking at all kind of things, found information about gray market tractors, and posted in a Kubota forums for those tractors.

After a few responses, someone mentioned what model I had and the pictures I found on the internet were spot on my tractor, except the paint color. And except the brand...

So I found that I had probably not bought a gray market Kubota, but a Mitsubishi D1500. What's a little crazy (at least to me), is that my family has a tractor back in the 80s. All I remembered before I started looking for info on my recent purchase was that it was a Beaver and I remembered trying to do wheelies when I was in a kid. We used it for our garden. Other than that, I don't remember much because I was 10 or 12 at the time.

So, now that I think I know what I have, I'm looking forward to finding out more about it and getting it working for me. Pictures attached.

So. my first and biggest question, is what direction does the PTO spin. Do I need something to reverse the direction to use most implements.

When facing the rear of the tractor, a normal North American pto will turn clockwise.

If not then reversing the pto direction is possible but will likely cost more than you paid for the tractor.

Here is one source.

I have attached a photo of a home made reverser on a much older non kubota tractor

I have a Mitsubishi D2350 - still the original blue color scheme. Their tractors were also sold under the Satoh brand name. My PTO does spin in the correct direction - no reverser needed. I did add an over run clutch to the PTO because I don't think one is built into the tractor. For further information about Mitsubishi / Satoh, try: Valley Power

Thanks for the replies. The tractor is being shipped to me (only about 100 miles from th auction to my land). Its a little easier to have that done and meet the tractor at my land (about 2 hours south of where I live).

I'm really anxious to take a look at it and see exactly what I have. I think one of the things I will try to do early on is get the Orange off of the tractor. It just seems wrong.

What you should do early is change all fluids and install new, fresh filters. Certainly, my recommendation includes draining diesel fuel and changing fuel filter with all the rest.

True, true.. I致e got a relative that is a diesel mechanic and another that worked on equipment (mostly diesel and hydraulics) for the SeaBees. We are planning on giving it a good tuneup before I do much of anything with it.

I could take the sheet metal off and paint while the check up is being taken care of...

Welcome!

Are you in the PNW?

These guys have been importing gray market models that were never sold here and putting some other make's logos and colors on them, for years. Maybe contact them.

It may be a Mitsu, but it still looks like a grey market tractor to me...

I agree it's almost certainly grey.

The tractor is being delivered Thursday, so I'll be able to take a good look at everything then. I can't wait! It's like I'm a kid getting a new toy.
