I just bought a used Cub Hydro this morning. Everything worked fine when i first fired it up, now i cant seem to get it into reverse. Funny, it worked the first time i used it now it wont even go into reverse. Anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong?? Think it could be a fluid issue?? Im gonna start ripping into it today see if i cant finger it out. What i really need is a manual......

Hi Jerry,
What model cub is this. Does the hydro lever move freely forward to reverse. I might have some diagrams depending on the model. A good first step might be to change the hydro filter and fluid, about two gallons.

Curt, It's a 1320 and i know nothing about it. I am going to order the manual for it today. As far as the lever goes, no it doesnt go into reverse freely. Its like something is jammed.
Is there a way to check if the hydro fluid is low?? I looked all over for a dipstick or something but had no luck. I REALLY wish i had a manual. Any help would be great.

Hi Jerry, I'm not familiar with that model, I'll check my manuals tonight. Sounds like a linkage problem though.

I looked at my manual, it covers the 1340, I believe that's a completely different tractor. Yours is a lawn tractor vs a garden tractor or so it appears. There are some good exploded parts manuals for sale on Ebay, just plug in your model & see what shows up.
I still think you have a linkage problem but I don't know if that model resembles the 1800 series I'm familiar with.

Oh yeah, on every Cub I've ever owned, the Hydro dipstick is at the rear of the seat. Move the seat all the way forward and take a look.
